Guan Eng: No difference between MCA and Utusan
MCA president Liow Tiong Lai is no different from Umno and its Malay language daily Utusan Malaysia, said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today.
“They are all on the same page and they are extremists. Dua kali lima,” Lim said at a press conference in Georgetown today.
MCA president Liow Tiong Lai is no different from Umno and its Malay language daily Utusan Malaysia , said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today.
“They are all on the same page and they are extremists. Dua kali lima ,” Lim said at a press conference in Georgetown today.
“If you do not support Bersih, just say so. Don’t blame the DAP,” said Lim who is also Penang chief minister.
Lim slammed Liow for accusing DAP of sowing the seeds of racial discord warning that the party would compromise the peace and security in the nation.
Liow ( photo ) was referring to the incidents which transpired during the Bersih 4 rally in Kuala Lumpur last weekend.
He cited examples where participants were seen stomping on the images of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.
He also said protestors conducted mock funeral ceremonies normally for Najib and his wife Rosmah Mansor including printing the PM’s image onto the 'hell currency notes’.
Liow said such behaviour was not typical of Chinese culture and showed disrespect.
No DAP flags seen
He also claimed that Bersih 4 had been 'hijacked by DAP' and said that MCA was worried this could lead to a tense situation.
“DAP has always spread racial hatred that leads to extremism ,” Liow was quoted as saying in a Sin Chew Daily report.
Lim refuted allegations that DAP had hijacked the mammoth rally by Bersih, saying that no DAP flags were displayed during the two-day event.
He said he had already sent a legal notice to Utusan for placing him in its frontpage report yesterday, accusing him of being one of the rally’s organisers.
Lim pointed out DAP had also condemned the act of stomping on the photos of Najib and Hadi and distanced itself from the questionable behaviour of some rally participants.
“ Utusan attacked me personally by saying I am one of the Bersih 4 rally organisers, while Liow has done the same thing but he directly targeted the DAP,” Lim said.
