Umno members must give their solid support to party president Najib Abdul Razak not based on his personal traits but because he represents the pillar of strength for Umno, said party supreme council member Mahdzir Khalid.
He said Najib, who is also the Prime Minister, would prevent any agend aimed at splitting the solidarity of the Malays in order for the minority group to dominate national politics to hold power.
"After the success of the agenda to split up PAS by creating two groups in the party, now the focus is to demolish Umno by attacking the party leadership, so that the majority of the people would lose confidence in the biggest Malay party," he said.
Mahdzir said this when opening the Parit Buntar Umno division's delegates meeting today.
He said currently the agenda was to demolish Umno because the minority group which made up about 30 percent of the population could dominate political power because the indigenous community of the country was split into 10 groups.
Mahdzir, who is also the Education Minister, said the issues on the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) and the RM2.6 billion fund were merely an excuse because the real agenda was to bring down the prime minister so that Umno would collapse.
