Faced with calls for him to give-up his Kuala Terengganu MP's seat, Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad has challenged Terengganu PAS commissioner Satipul Bahri Mamat to table a report on the performance of all Terengganu PAS MPs.

Raja Kamarul Bahrin, who is now with Parti Amanah Negara, had in an open letter said PAS had deviated from its original course after its spiritual advisor and fthe former Kelantan menteri besar Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat passed away earlier this year.

The Kuala Terengganu MP ( photo ), who is an architect, said seeing PAS' deviation, he then decided to move on to Amanah and continue the struggle for Islam as stipulated by Nik Aziz.

He added for this reason, to counter the sumpah bai'ah (pledge of allegiance) made and as stipulated in the Al Maidah chapter of the Al Quran, there was an option and that was to give food to 10 poor people.

“I chose to give food to 10 poor people as this is also in line with what the Prophet had said for anyone who is required to pay kaffarah.”

“On the request for me to step down as MP, that condition is not stipulated under the law. In fact, I want Satipul to investigate all existing Terengganu PAS federal lawmakers. I ask him to lay out the official record of all PAS MPs including myself in Parliament

“How many times a day and what were the hours these federal lawmakers were in Parliament since the last general election? The number of times the PAS lawmakers debated in Parliament, their performance in having press conferences, their record of attendance,” he said.

'PAS has deviated'

After having table all this in public, Raja Kamarul Bahrin said the people and voters could then evaluate who should in fact resign from their posts.

“I ask that these records be made official within 14 days from today. Let the punishment be based on the facts as stipulated above,” he said in a statement.

“Let the people see and know the facts on the performance of their elected representatives in Parliament before they punish someone. Islam demands evaluation based on true facts in a bid to mete out justice before punishment.”

Raja Kamarul Bahrin said PAS had deviated from its original path with the departure from the concept of PAS for all, the violation of consensus with PKR and DAP in Pakatan Rakyat and also at the last muktamar which saw the professionals being booted out.

As such, he said, with such deviation from its original direction, it was better for him to leave the party and join Amanah.
