Controversial cartoonist Zulkiflee Anwar Haque has announced the publication of his new book, titled "Sapuman - Man of Steal."

Popularly known as Zunar, he said the 126-page cartoon book consists of more than 150 cartoons.

The focus of the book is on 1MDB and the RM2.6 billion political donation received by Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

Zunar said the book would also contain works that poke fun at the prime minister's wife Rosmah Mansor, whom he described as his "muse".

"Most of the cartoons in Sapuman are collections of my political cartoons that have appeared on the Internet and social media from February until August this year.

"The market price for this book is RM26, too small to compare with the RM2.6 billion donation to someone's personal account," added the cartoonist, who is facing nine charges under the Sedition Act.

Will the police disrupt launching?

The launching ceremony for the new book will be at the Kuala Lumpur-Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall at 5pm on Sunday.

Previously, Zunar ( photo ) said the police blocked the attempts to launch his previous book titled 'Ros In Kangkong Land'.

"Would the police come and disrupt the launching event this time? I would like to state that I do not really care what the police want to do. I only focus on what I am supposed to do.

"My artworks are blended, each with a stand, information and direction as well as jokes. I want people to turn their anger into jokes because laughter is a form of protest in Malaysia.

"If you cannot beat them, then laugh at them. No repressive regime can survive being mocked at," he added.

Since "Sapuman - Man of Steal" cannot be sold in the open market, Zunar said he would have to rely on the support of readers.

"Only with the support of my fans, the readers and the people who are concerned can the publishing of my cartoons and books continue," he added.

Fans and supporters can show their support by attending the launching event by registering at https://www.facebook.com/events/1494143557551464/ or buy the book online through his personal website www.zunar.my .
