Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak visited PAS spiritual leader Haron Din at the National Heart Institute (IJN) today.

A photo of the visit was uploaded by by Najib on his Twitter account.

"I had the opportunity to visit Haron in IJN just now. May he get well soon and be blessed with good health," the premier tweeted.

Haron, aged 75, underwent an angiogram on Sept 10, and according to his Facebook page, he is doing fine.

He has reportedly been in and out of the heart disease centre for several years.

Najib and former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad made separate visits to Haron last year ( right ), when he was warded in the institute's critical care unit.

The prime minister had previously thanked Haron for allegedly defending him from allegations of embezzling money that was reported by the Wall Street Journal.

However PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan was quick to point out that Haron had not defended Najib in the latter's statement, but had maintained that the WSJ claims need to be investigated .

Haron assumed to position of PAS spiritual leader this March, replacing the late Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat who passed away on Feb 13.

His appointment at the time was seen as a move to shore up the ulama faction in the run up to the controversial party polls in June that saw the party progressives wiped out.
