MCA will convene a special briefing session with grassroots leaders this Thursday to decide on the party's stand on Bersih 4 and the red shirt rally.
Party secretary-general Ong Ka Chuan said the briefing would be attended by all divisional chairpersons, deputy chairpersons, secretaries, Youth chiefs, and Wanita chiefs to discuss a uniform stand.
He said the recent public gatherings, coupled with political, economic and racial issues, have led to a tense situation and MCA is concerned about this.
Ong urged all MCA members to keep calm at this crucial juncture and refrain from making emotional statements which would further erode the situation as intended by those instigating it.
"This situation will not bring any good at all to the party, race, and nation.
"I urge all MCA comrades to keep a cool head, analyse matters rationally, and learn clearly the origins of the uneasiness facing us now, i.e. how disputes over 1MDB's financial problems have been intentionally manipulated by certain quarters into a racial issue," he said.
Ong warned that while it is easy to be a hero, cleaning up the mess in the aftermath would be difficult.
"We should not be falling into traps deliberately set up before us by others and dance to the tune of the statements uttered by irresponsible persons.
"MCA must persevere in line with the vision of our founding fathers, defend the rights of the Chinese community and other races, preserve the spirit of Malaysia's independence, and ensure all races are accorded their rights as enshrined in our Federal Constitution," he said.
The Sept 16 rally was organised by the National Silat Federation (Pesaka) to "defend Malay dignity" but was marred with racial epithets hurled against the Chinese community.
It was in retaliation for the predominantly-Chinese attendance at Bersih 4, which urged Najib's resignation and saw two participants stomping on an image of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and PAS president Hadi Awang.
Pasir Gudang MCA Youth has since severed ties with Najib, who is also the BN chairperson, after he described the Sept 16 gathering, also known as the red shirt rally, as "peaceful" and thanked its participants.
