Activist Khalid Mohd Ismath has been slapped with a two-day remand order following his arrest yesterday.

Khalid was arrested under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for "improper use of network facilities or service", according to former Parti Socialis Malaysia (PSM) secretary-general S Arutchelvan.

"There are allegations that he (Khalid) posted something regarding (lawyer) Kamal Hisham Jaafar and the Sultan of Johor.

"I haven't seen any postings like that yet," Arutchelvan told Malaysiakini today.

He said Khalid was arrested at his workplace and was then brought back to his house in Klang, where the police confiscated his mobile phone, computer and Internet modem.

He was later taken to the Johor Bahru Selatan police station, where he is detained under remand.

Kamal Hisham had previously urged Johor's Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar to abdicate his throne if he wanted to participate in politics.

Kamal Hisham was arrested in early September over a case of fraud and is being charged with criminal breach of trust. He has been released on bail.

Khalid on Oct 6 posted on Twitter: “ Jangan kita lupa,ada 2 org yg sdg ditahan dipenjara sblm dibuktikan bersalah. 1) Kamal Hisham 2) Khairuddin mereka berdua melawan berhala.”

He was referring to former Batu Kawan Umno deputy chief Khairuddin Abu Hassan who is detained under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act , after lodging complaints to international agencies on the 1MDB issue.

Khairuddin's lawyer Matthias Chang was arrested under Sosma today.

Sosma, an anti-terrorism law, allows detention without trial for up to 28 days.
