Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad has no plans to lodge a police report against Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.
When suggested by the media to lodge a police report against Najib, he said: “I have never made any police report against anybody”.
Pressed further and pointed out that it would be a police report on the allegations against Najib, Mahathir admitted that he did not have enough evidence.
“I know the money is lost but I don’t know where it is,” he said, after receiving the Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) President’s Award tonight .
Mahathir however did not specify whether he meant the funds of state-owned 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) or the RM2.6 billion political ‘donation’ from the Middle East which was transferred into Najib’s personal accounts.
Najib has repeatedly denied using public funds for personal gain.
Meanwhile, the former premier was earlier asked what would it take to remove Najib as prime minister.
And again, the outspoken Najib critic said the only way to remove the incumbent premier is by way of a no-confidence vote.
“But that requires a sufficient number,” he stated.
The former premier has been a vocal critic against Najib and his administration, never one to hide his wish for Najib to resign as prime minister.
Urging MPs to support a vote of no confidence against Najib as well as insisting Pekan constituents to not vote for Najib in the next general election, these were among the suggestions Mahathir had given for Najib to cease being the premier.
