Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Paul Low believes that upholding the law is the most important thing in any circumstance.

He expressed this when quizzed on the spat between Bank Negara and the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) with regard to 1MDB.

"As a cabinet member, I don't think it's proper for me to comment," he told a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today.

The minister felt that it is better for things to be resolved between the two institutions.

"They know what they are doing. (But) they need to resolve (this). But (the) most important is upholding the rule of law," he said.

The AGC this week decided not to prosecute 1MDB, but the central bank however wants the AGC to review this decision.

1MDB last week was also ordered to repatriate funds totalling US$1.83 billion after Bank Negara revoked three permissions granted to the company under the Exchange Control Act (ECA).

Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali, however, said that no crime was committed under the ECA.
