Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar believes there is no hurry to record former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s statement.

This is with regard to the nonagenarian’s remarks made during the Bersih rally in August.

“We will make the arrangement.

“No hurry, there is no hurry,” he said at at a press conference today when asked when police would record the former premier’s statement.

Khalid last month said Mahathir would be investigated for criminal defamation under Section 500 of the Penal Code for remarks he made during the Bersih 4 rally.

The top cop said police wanted to find out more on Mahathir’s remarks, among them, claiming that Umno leaders had taken bribes.Khalid early last month had also said that Mahathir’s statement would be taken soon.

But it has now been more than a month and police have yet to meet the outspoken former premier for his statement.

At least seven Bersih organisers have already been called in for questioning.
