The country’s top cop has confirmed that former PetroSaudi International director Xavier Andre Justo’s statement will be taken by the local police.

Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar told reporters that police have received approval from the Thai authorities to interview Justo.

“We have got the approval from the Thai authorities, for us to interview him.

“So we are making arrangements,” Khalid told a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur today.

He added that the interview with Justo would be conducted 'very soon' and that it would most probably be held this week.

Police are now making arrangements with the Thai authorities to iron out final details with regards to when, where and how the interview will be held, he said.

“The Thai authorities told us last week, so now we are making preparations,” he told reporters after the press conference.

Asked on the main objective of questioning Justo, Khalid said it was merely to record the Swiss national’s statement and to 'clear some air'.

Justo, in August, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by the Bangkok South Criminal Court when he admitted to attempting to blackmail his former employer, PetroSaudi International.

He was also said to have leaked stolen documents pertaining to a joint venture between PetroSaudi and 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Post-mortem results out

Meanwhile, Khalid confirmed that the post-mortem results of late deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais was already out.

Khalid said it was up to the family members to decide if they want to have a second post-mortem conducted.

“It’s up to them. If they want a second post-mortem, they have to apply to the attorney-general. The responsibility does not lie with us anymore,” he said.

Morais’ body was found in a cement-filled oil drum last month. His remains are reportedly still at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital after his family purportedly requested for a second post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
