PKR secretary-general Rafizi Ramli today poked fun at Umno for breaking its tradition by not having its deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin officially open its wings' general assemblies next month.

"We are glad today that unlike Umno, we are able to carry on with our tradition in that the national congress will continue to be done in a transparent manner.

"In fact, our party continues the tradition that the national congress of the Youth and Wanita wings will be always be opened by the deputy president, unlike Umno," he said at PKR's national congress today.

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak had announced that Muhyiddin will not address the Umno Wanita, Youth and Puteri wings at their general assemblies.

Against tradition, the respective wing chiefs will officiate the assemblies themselves, said Najib.

“This is a suggestion from the wings. This is what they wanted and so we respect their wish," he said.
