Make room for Amanah in S'gor gov't, says Azmin
Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali today said all political parties that made up the state government must accommodate Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) members as local councillors.
“I made it very clear in the last state executive council meeting, all parties - PKR, DAP and PAS - will try to accommodate the need to have Amanah as our councillors,” he said in a press conference in Ulu Klang today.
Azmin pointed out how PKR itself had given up 17 of its seats to DAP and PAS in September last year.

Azmin pointed out how PKR itself had given up 17 of its seats to DAP and PAS in September last year.
“(During the) last session, PKR got 120 councillor seats in Selangor."
The PKR deputy president said the parties had series of discussions since early 2015 to review the number of seat allocations.
“And PKR was reduced from 120 to 103 seats - that was agreed upon in September 2015 by PAS, and also DAP.
“Seventeen seats which were given by PKR went to DAP and PAS, so now certainly we have to respect our new member, which is Amanah,” he said.
Selangor has 288 councillors – 120 seats were previously allocated to PKR while DAP and PAS have 98 and 70 respectively.
Selangor Amanah Youth last month urged for the party to be given local councillor appointments in the coming term.
Meanwhile, Azmin declined to comment on a report by The Star which quoted Selangor PKR division leaders accusing PKR deputy chairperson Zuraida Kamaruddin ( photo ) of arbitrarily replacing names proposed by them with those that she favoured for the party’s local councillor positions.
“I don’t think it’s fair for me to give any comment based on speculation.
“There is a process of consultation and certainly the process must be respected by all parties and we will continue to discuss. There is no problem,” he added.
Asked whether he will look into the matter, Azmin said it was discussed during the executive council meeting last week.
“And there are issues that need to be ironed out and we will continue to discuss,” he said.
