Angels in the midst of scandals and corruption
YOURSAY | ‘Each and every teacher mentioned has more love and care for their fellow citizens than our so-called ‘first family’.’
In search of knowledge in the back alleys of Chow Kit

Malaysiakini
, what a wonderful story! What a refreshing breeze after endless stories of race, political plots, kidnappings and religious differences.
It is both heartening and inspiring to read of selfless people who have devoted their time, effort and money to contribute to the future.
Little as it might be, NGOs such as these are laying a priceless foundation for these children - knowledge and education.
On a related emotion, it is painful to read of families queuing up for some food; it only adds to the guilt of us with our half-eaten KFCs, McDonald's Big Macs and Starbucks pleasures.
Mohican: In the midst of Malaysia tearing itself apart with scandals and corruption, there are angels like activist Benz Ali and volunteer teacher Siti Rahayu - to whom we should be eternally grateful for their noble work and profound courage.
They are really awesome.
Tembikai: Malaysia is a country blessed with natural resources. With the right leadership, no one would starve and everyone will have an education.
Sadly, we have very, very wrong leadership instead. It would take at least two Lee Kuan Yews to clean up the mess - that is, if we are able to find such persons in Malaysia.
Malaysia really seems doomed, especially with so many "useful idiots" running around.
Fair&Just: We tend to say "God bless you" to their good deeds and then life goes on as usual.
Perhaps, we should say "God curse you" to the corrupt and sinful Umno? We pray that it is now the time for God to punish and destroy them for all their decades of sins.
James TCLow: Well done, NGO Region Of Love and all those caring teachers. I wonder whether Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, would care to read this article.
Each and every teacher mentioned above has more love and care for their fellow citizens than our so-called “first family”.
Anonymous #13114320: Good to know, but it would have been even better if there is a follow-up to allow people to help or donate to this cause.
There is no point knowing and pondering, yet being unable to contribute further. Not everyone can find the time or run over to Chow Kit to assist either... so online contributions may help.
Food, clothes or school materials, etc, will mean a lot to those kids. Malaysiakini , do share how we would be able to do so.
Penangites Strive to be Ahead: We hope that Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rohani Abdul Karim reads this article.
Tan Kim Keong: Kudos to these local activists. So proud of them.
'Mike throwing not as bad as PAS' Chinese deity blunder'
Roguekiller: Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Mohamad Sabu, you are always remembered by your straightforwardness and expressions without mincing your words.
By your throwing of the mike, you displayed how disgusted you were that things have not been turning out right as expected.
However, you need to be patient, for you could be misconstrued by some and dirty-minded goons could make an issue out of your deed.
Try to stay focused and pay more attention to the teetering development of Pakatan Harapan. Its leadership sucks, and its coalition partners are definitely not united - akin to a pot of loose sand.
You have a terribly weak leader and she is incapable of leading; you and DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang should collectively advise PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to give way to a reputable, prominent Malay member from either party to act as an interim leader of Harapan.
As it is, she is voiceless with her poor quality leadership. More often than not, she remains at the sidelines, incapable of unifying the coalition partners and I believe, she does not command the confidence of the coalition.
Anonymous_1377321471: Is Amanah a clone of PAS? Why is it that both have phobias of an earthly ancient costume and believe that a piece of clothing has evil powers to weaken a person's faith?
Is this a reflection of Amanah's superstitious mindset, or a more superficial mindset typical of PAS? This will be a really hard choice come GE14.
Sontotsia: The rakyat share Mat Sabu's frustration. It is because we have been lulled by the thieves in Umno for so long that we've lost our courage to question them.
I echo his call for all Malaysian “ cowards ” to grow a pair and regain our nation.
