Next, expect Umno to accuse Dr M of being a DAP stooge

YOURSAY | ‘We know what Abdul Rahman is trying to do - to demonise Kit Siang.’

Please hug and kiss Kit Siang's cheeks, minister tells Dr M

Vent: I’m no aficionado of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and this is a coalition of the strangest of bedfellows, who have demonstrated that politics is indeed the art of the possible.

That said, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi must be reminded that Najib was only elected as an MP and not PM.

Now we, the bona-fide citizens of Malaysia, have the right to demand his removal since he has lost our trust irrevocably with repressive laws, unbridled corruption, rabid sycophancy, a runaway ringgit, and most of all, the alleged serial looting of the nation’s wealth.

Sali Tambap: We know what BN communications chief Abdul Rahman Dahlan is trying to do - to demonise DAP leader Lim Kit Siang. It never fails with the Malays, he must have thought.

But Kit Siang, for all the Chinese that he is and a thorn-in-the-flesh opposition, well, for one thing he is clean.

He was a victim of political persecution and spent time in jail for that but he never stole the people's money, let alone such outrageous amount of RM2.6 billion, a sum more than enough to operate a year’s budget for any state in Malaysia.

It looks like Abdul Rahman is clutching the last straw and it does not look good for him should the political boat overturn - he and his cohorts may well be looking for another job or worse, be spending time in jail.

No wonder they are fighting tooth and nail to keep their positions.

Negarawan: Abdul Rahman is an embarrassment to his family and constituents. For a minister to make asinine comments like this in public just goes to show his low level of intellect, maturity and professionalism.

It is no surprise that he recruits alleged bankrupts with his same level of intellect (Lester Melanyi and Ramesh Rao) to do his bidding.

His " rise early to avoid toll " proposal is a glaring example of his incompetency and total disconnect with reality.

Anonymous 706151436780066: Being elected by a flawed democratic process that included intimidation of voters, gerrymandering, ballot box stuffing, vote buying, voter bribing is hardly a democratic win.

It is form without content, and a complete denial of democracy.

Kleeo: “The response I got from Umno grassroots leaders on WhatsApp and Telegram (mobile phone messaging applications) groups was unequivocal - stand behind the president,” said Abdul Rahman.

Good to know that he is the kind of politician who is confident that grassroots leaders really mean what they say... in group chats... group chats in which Abdul Rahman himself is a member.

Citizens' Declaration spells out demands for removal of Najib

Sali Tambap: Najib’s involvement in the 1MDB scandal is well summarised in the 37-point Citizens' Declaration. It is important to keep to the issues because he will attempt to divert from them by creating political distraction.

The content of the declaration is as good as true by his failure to provide solid rebuttal to rebut them. There have been many opportunities for him to do that but he did not.

Our conclusion that he could not defend himself from the revelation against him is simply because what have been revealed by the various whistleblowers was simply true.

On top of that, by sabotaging the investigation into 1MDB and curbing the news media from reporting them, these are seen as further signs that Najib has something to hide.

The result of the investigation and news media report could only bring to light his complicity, which he tries to keep the lid on.

His position as PM, therefore, is unsustainable anymore. He has brought the country down economically and its reputation is in disrepute internationally.

He is a shame to the country and its citizens, especially the Malays, who find it more and more difficult to justify him as the head of the government.

FellowMalaysian: Mahathir has done a comprehensive and thorough investigative job and he deserves credit for his exhaustive and courageous effort in his anti-Najib 'Citizens' Declaration'.

Though a substantial portion of his summaries that focus on the 1MDB flow of funds (items no 9 to no 13) were highlighted by Tony Pua before he challenged Arul Kanda Kandasamy late last year to an open debate, it was a refreshing reminder to note that Mahathir's record of the transactions, both accounted and unaccounted for, were similar to Pua's.

The starkest and shocking statement was when he accused both 1MDB and the prime minister of “consistently lying to the Malaysian public”.

These strong words could only have been spoken by the enigmatic Mahathir without courting trouble with the authorities.

Once again, having done what ordinary leaders fail or scuttle away from doing, Mahathir delivered the extraordinary.

He has just ignited the rocket's engine but where it lands we can't say just yet.

Jbsuara: Kudos to all these brave leaders who have managed to get together from very diverse background to fight on common principles and tenets of removing Najib with peaceful means, revamp draconian laws which oppresses citizens, and restore the institutions that have been undermined and bullied by the prime minister.

I have no doubt many citizens would put aside their differences and support you.
