Pointless for Dr M to urge Umno to move against Najib

YOURSAY | ‘He has tried three times and succeeded in all. Must he be given a fourth opportunity?’

Table no-confidence motions against PM, Mahathir says in open letter

Victor Johan: All those signing, and have signed, the Citizens’ Declaration understand that all the other demands can wait as the more urgent focus should be seeing Najib Razak relinquishing the all-mighty prime minister’s post.

Let's be reminded that Najib was not elected the PM by the voters at the last 13th GE; he only assumed that post as the Umno president.

The citizens and voters, after observing Najib's dismaying performance as PM, now want him out of that post. This is perfectly a democratic and constitutional approach.

Anonymous 560221439180274: Former PM Dr Mahathir Mohamad is confessing to what he had done during his tenure of office.

He is guilty of all the charges in his open letter to Umno members. What he has not mentioned is his destruction of the political future of Musa Hitam, Anwar Ibrahim and

Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

He has tried three times and succeeded in all. Must Umno members give him a fourth opportunity?

Besides, he has no right writing to Umno members when he is no longer a party member.

Rubystar_4037: Mahathir, you are really getting very tiresome. Your motive to unseat Najib is not for the love of this country but to perpetuate your political empire by installing your son at a later stage as PM.

Mukhriz is not of minister calibre, let alone PM. Go home and enjoy all your ill-gotten gains as for now you and your family are still safe. Nobody is going to persecute you for all your wrongdoings during your 22 years of despotic rule.

Lynn: Mahathir, there is no point appealing to Umno. The party warlords control the votes, not the grassroots. And the warlords love their government contracts, etc, more than the party or the nation.

This is what happens when the most corruptible are chosen as leaders. Umno is beyond help.

Anonymous_1421806811: I have never been a strong admirer of Mahathir and I still blame him for the starting the mess Malaysia is in today.

At least now he knows how corrupt and evil the government has become. Every right thinking Malaysian must support Mahathir in his quest to turn the tables against the wrongdoers and hopefully those in power will be brought to justice.

Dont Just Talk: Any true leader who loves his country would have voluntarily step down as prime minister or president when such allegations of massive corruption are hurled against him.

Najib was caught with RM2.6 billion in his personal account and yet he shamelessly still clings on to his post.

He is supported by those of the same feather, otherwise, as Mahathir has said, “Why are the Umno Baru division leaders not voting him out.”

Anonymous 109681439536914: For obvious reasons, Najib should make way for others. But the man who created Umno Baru, now not a member of the party, has no right, legitimacy and no standing among Malaysians to make such a call.

He does not remember the damage he had inflicted on the country for 22 long years. He should be ashamed of himself.

Gaji Buta: Opposition, please wake up and don't fall for this man's ploy. You will have better chances in the next GE if Najib stays on. Be patient and get a clean victory.

Over 1,000 Pagoh Umno members sign 'oust Najib' declaration

Anonymous 2362021442199789: The battle for the hearts and minds of the ordinary Umno members has commenced in earnest.

Soon the divisional leaders who has been beholden to the president will realise that they may not have the grassroots support that they have been trying to portray.

When they start to see the light, they will abandon the Bugis ship to save their own skins.

Ri-U: This is why suspended Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin will not leave Umno.

This is what we call a backdoor strategy to ensure that Pagoh Umno remain loyal to their leader and can't show their support to the Umno president.

Anonymous_1421806811: Good effort. The eyes of Umno grassroots members are beginning to open and they are seeing the excesses in corruption among the political elite and their pathetic explanations to cover them up.

All those people who still support Najib know well their source of "cari makan" will be lost and many may even go to jail.

Hopefully, more grassroots will follow the footsteps of these brave Malays.

Awang Top: No leaders of Malaysia were so shamed in the international arena than Najib.

Have you read Time magazine's report on countries hit by corruption scandals, with Malaysia standing at no 2 ?
