Mohd Naroden Majais, the BN’s potential candidate for the newly-established Gedong seat, cried as he left his fate in the hands of Chief Minister Adenan Satem.

"If I am not selected to contest in the coming state election, I will still support BN, and my wife and I want to express our thanks to the people of Simunjan who have given their full support to me as their elected representative," said the Simunjan incumbent at a 'Leaders with the People' gathering in Simunjan, today.

Mohd Naroden, who is also assistant minister in the Chief Minister's Office (Bumiputera Entrepreneur Development), said the people in Simunjan and Gedong must unite to continue Simunjan's legacy as a stronghold of BN and continue the development that had been planned.

He said there had been much development in Simunjan and aimed to continue the plans which had been made if he was selected to contest in Gedong and wins the seat.

Immediately after he began his speech, Adenan sought to calm Mohd Naroden down, saying: "Without a doubt I can confirm that Mohd Naroden Majais will be the BN candidate for Gedong in the election."

His announcement was greeted by loud applause from the 10,000 people who attended the event.

The recent delineation exercise in Sarawak resulted in additional 11 seats, bringing the number of seats in the state assembly to 82, from 71. Simunjan was divided into two seats, with Gedong the new one.

However, Adenan did not announce the name of the BN candidate for Simunjan.
