Apart from the usual placards, banners and racist chants, anti-DAP protesters have now added a new item from the afterlife to their arsenal.

This afternoon's protest outside the party headquarters in Kuala Lumpur witnessed the presence of hell notes.

Hell notes is a form of joss paper printed to resemble legal tender bank note and its Chinese custom to burn them as offerings for deceased ancestors.

The notes were cast outside the building several times where some 200 protesters led by Umno Youth gathered to vent their frustration against a DAP lawmaker accused of insulting Islam.

Quizzed on the hell notes, one of the protesters replied: "Kerana kita nak kasi orang DAP mati ma (We want DAP people to die)."

Chipping in, Federal Territory Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii said: "Something to that effect. They (DAP) wants Umno to die, so we want DAP to die."

The protesters threw more hell notes in the direction of DAP’s representative Chu Yoon Ming after the latter received the memorandum.

“Nah, take this duit raya,” said one protester throwing the hell notes.

The protesters also set off fireworks during the protest, which saw tempers flare when the police prevented them from entering the building.

The DAP headquarters and its offices are no stranger to such protests.

Protestors threatened to torch the headquarters in 2014, after DAP lawmaker RSN Rayer called Umno "celaka" (damned).

Following this, other party offices were splashed with red paint and pelted with eggs.

DAP, which is a Chinese-predominated party, is often accused of wanting to undermine the position of the Malays and Islam, a charge which its leaders vehemently deny.

In order to shed its Chinese-centric image, DAP has been recruiting more Malays into the party, but detractors often denounce the latter as being traitors to their race.
