PAS No 2 urges ceasefire in opposition, wants guns trained on real foes

Multi Racial: It is obvious PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man has shown more leadership than his president, Abdul Hadi Awang, who is the cause of the current problems in the opposition.

So much so that Malaysians are beginning to think Hadi was a mole from BN planted in the opposition to disrupt its unity.

It’s time for PAS members to get rid of their president, and work together with Pakatan Harapan to defeat BN in the next general election.

Clongviews: Is it because of the defeat from the two by-elections that Tuan Ibrahim is sending feelers for a possible U-turn?

With Hadi and some of his supporters still in PAS, the people who once supported PAS and got disappointed, will find this hard to swallow. Anyway in politics, nothing is impossible.

Gggg: PAS is truly a Malaysian party which can work with Umno and at the same time, work with the opposition. My hope is DAP and Amanah together move forward.

PAS' relationship with Umno is no different from PKR's relationship with PAS. Both are opportunists.

Clever Voter: Indeed, whatever number two said would be nought, if number one hasn't changed his mind over who their partner should be. It is extremely difficult to regain trust when it is broken.

Wak Kanto: This statement is from a leader who has the wisdom, knowledge and experience to deal with the rakyat. What he said was the fact that our heads must prevail rather than our emotions.

What do we want? If we can work together before Tok Guru Nik Aziz's passing, why can't we cooperate now?

Anonymous #05023297: Hadi and his ulama destroyed the good work and trust that Tok Guru and the present Amanah people had built. You just can't turn back the clock.

Cocomomo: First, get rid of your president. Second, withdraw the amendment to the syariah/hudud. Third, denounce religious bigotry and racism. Fourth, denounce IS and all forms of extremism.

Iiiizzzziiii: Perhaps it is a little too late for that now. PAS has shown to all it does not need any allies to win an election. This has been made abundantly clear by its president, Hadi.

PAS actually burnt its bridges when it tried to woo Umno over with its hudud bill. We may be fools but we are not dumb. A man of religion should know that you can never take lightly the trust that had been given.

One good thing that has come out of all this is that PAS has shown its true colours: it is lacking in credibility and integrity.

As long as Islam remains its core objective, and it's unwilling to accommodate other points of view, then so be it.

The only way forward is for Hadi and gang to be removed as PAS leaders. Otherwise PAS is doomed.

Anonymous #05023297: Tuan Ibrahim, it's better that you manage Hadi and the ulama first. For they are the ones that had, and will continue, to scuttle your hopes.

Once you have sorted that out, then you can talk to the rest in the opposition about common ground and work out differences.

Hadi has burnt his bridges. He cannot be accepted. The opposition parties will be committing political suicide if they ever work with him and his ilk again.

Malaysian Born: PAS leaders should stop making any statements. There is literally no point to it as anything they say will likely end up being described as a personal opinion and not the party’s, regardless of how senior they are.

There is only one person who has the authority to comment for PAS, and that's Hadi.

SusahKes: And here I was thinking that BN's response to the 1MDB debacle sounded confusing. Well, guess what? PAS as a party, sounded even more confused, and near rudderless, as to what their policy is.

One minute, the deputy president no less, informed us that the party was willing to consider a ceasefire; next, you have the secretary-general come out and more or less, rebutted his deputy president's statement.

Lately, that has been pretty much the attribute that we've come to expect from these PAS chaps - a Harvey Dent dual persona conflict type. Now I love Pakatan, now I don't. And these guys want to govern the nation?

Ferdtan: Tuan Ibrahim, next time when you issued a statement, please clarify whether it is your personal opinion so that those in DAP and PKR would not be given false hope.

Amanah leaders, who were ex-PAS members, knew better. They were hesitant and voiced caution, unlike DAP and PKR.
