Tony Pua: We are not clear about S'gor PAS' position
Selangor DAP says the position of Selangor PAS remains unclear, despite the party in the state declaring support for deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man's ceasefire call to Pakatan Harapan.
"They have made a mess of things themselves, and they need to resolve this first," Selangor DAP chief Tony Pua said last night.
"I have no comment on PAS, except that the problem in dealing with the Islamic party is that we don't know where it stands," Pua said.
"I have no comment on PAS, except that the problem in dealing with the Islamic party is that we don't know where it stands.
"(So), let's figure out where they stand, and then we will know how to deal with them," he added.
"If we cannot even figure out where they stand, there is no way, or no point talking about it or dealing with them."
Pua also asked if Selangor PAS wanted to have its cake and eat it too.
"They want to take certain positions, but at the same time, they want to have the benefit of being in Pakatan," he said when met at the DAP headquarters in Kuala Lumpur after attending his party’s central executive committee meeting.
Both Tuan Ibrahim and PAS vice-president Iskandar Abd Samad have called for a ceasefire among opposition parties and urged them to train their guns on BN instead.
But PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang reiterated that the Islamic party cannot walk hand-in-hand with clear enemies and duplicitous friends.
Meanwhile, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said Tuan Ibrahim had merely expressed a personal idea, rather than the party's stand.
However, 12 PAS state assemblypersons and an MP in Selangor have openly supported the idea and pledged to send a letter jointly signed by all of them to the party leadership.
