YOURSAY | ‘It’s confirmed - BN and Umno have no qualms about cheating in the elections.’
Malacca CM: Redelineate for BN to win
Ferdtan: Why Malacca Chief Minister Idris Haron always talks with no cow sense? Is he the best Malacca deserves?
Just after his idiotic, 'Kill Malays' remarks designed to boost patriotism', now he calls on the Election Commission (EC) to delineate seats in Malacca to help BN win back the seats it lost in the 2013 general election.
That is gerrymandering, which is undemocratic (and illegal) - if it is carried out by EC for the purpose of helping BN to win unfairly.
If EC is neutral, or at least shows a semblance of fairness, then the EC chief must come out to clarify the matter. The EC head is obliged to dismiss this call because Idris is no ordinary ruling government leader; for goodness sake, he is the chief minister of a state.
If EC is silent, then it implicitly proves that EC is working with BN to win elections illegally.
Anonymous 2419401464142136: How much more obvious can it be than when someone says things such as "we can control voters who don't support BN so that they're not in these constituencies"?
If it has come to the point where idiots within the government can openly promote gerrymandering, guess what they think about most of us Malaysians? Not much, I bet.
Anonymous 2362021442199789: Perhaps it is not sheer 'stupidity' to openly declare that his political faction should cheat in the coming elections.
In fact, it could be sheer 'arrogance' where he feels that his political faction is so strong now that it can do whatever it wants to stay in power.
Malaysians who still believe that we can progress as a nation through fairly elected, capable leaders in open, transparent and fair elections must be in utter despair.
Anonymous112233: Idris is telling everyone, cheating with God's support is okay.
Citizen_Zero: The last time I laughed so loud until my stomach hurt was when the self-righteous PAS leaders wore Hang Tuah outfits to their party assembly, repleted with keris, and with a giant one to cut a lump of pulut on a table.
Idris is a case of an eager minion who didn’t get the memo – ‘Psst. Hey, gerrymandering is a lying and cheating method Umno uses to win elections. It’s not an above-the-board procedure. And, err, we never admitted to doing it. Let alone use the word. It’s actually illegal, ok.’ Facepalm.
This is what happens when the minion believes the convenient lie of the tuan to be the truth, even when the tuan-tuan themselves are struggling with their suspended belief to maintain the lie themselves.
Now, this is irrefutable truth. Umno is a goner. I bet Najib put on his paste-on grin throughout Haron’s speech.
Anonymous 2405561458171517: This is an open admission of gerrymandering with no shame or sense of guilt whatsoever.
Either the CM does not understand the severity of gerrymandering as an assault to democracy or he is just being flippant about assaulting it. For the sake of the nation, I certainly hope it is the former.
Yap Cs: So now Umno is openly advocating gerrymandering. Why not just declare it will rule forever and everything in Bolehland is Umno's, and all are slaves destined to work free for Umno?
Why even bother to pretend to have elections?
Anonymous 2415891461978791: Yes, why not stop the pretence and just not let non-Malays vote at all?
Fairman: He is sending a subtle message to the EC. No need to follow the guidelines set out in the EC and election laws. EC must not object - whatever Umno wants, Umno gets.
Maria Chin, Bersih 2.0 and civil society, please take serious note.
Anonymous #64627787: So this is our fine democracy. Change electoral boundaries and give more allocations. Aren't these crimes in other democratic jurisdictions?
Anonymous_1372741039: It is believed that a majority of Allah-fearing Malays believe that the people have been deceived, not by the non-Malays, Christians or Jews but by their very own kind whom they elected to rule the nation and people.
They have begun to question that if MO1 (Malaysian Official 1) is innocent of the avalanche of allegations, why did it resist in instituting a law suit against the accusers?
They are beginning to wonder as to why former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail was removed. Not only him, but also officials of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Many questions have been left unanswered. They are also beginning to believe that the investigations conducted by foreign countries against 1MDB linking MO1 must also have substance.
XED: The CM doesn't understand that in a true parliamentary democracy, the body responsible for delineating constituencies and re-delineating them is independent.
Here is convincing evidence of Umno's cheating tactics. It is all about entrenching Umno's position through foul means and to increase unfairly the strength of the Malay vote. Will the EC speak up?
Awish: Haron has confirmed that BN and Umno have no qualms about cheating in the elections. But we've always known that!
Headhunter: Cheat to win, that's what Umno is good at.
