PKR and Jamal spar over toilet stunt

Bersih said it will proceed with a defamation suit against Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos for claiming the polls reform movement was linked to terrorist group Islamic State after he flushed its letter of demand down a toilet in front of the media.

PKR Youth deputy chief Afif Bahardin criticised Jamal's press conference, which was held in a toilet, questioning the quality of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's defenders.

Jamal responded to PKR by recirculating a toilet tryst photograph which Umno bloggers in 2012 claimed showed PKR deputy president Azmin Ali and a woman in the toilet. Azmin, who is Selangor menteri besar, had denied the claim.

Meanwhile, Umno supreme council member Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz said Jamal's antics did not represent Umno and that he was only one of three million party members.

PAS responds coldly to 'united opposition' proposal

Jailed PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim reiterated on the sidelines the need for all opposition parties to discuss a new coalition when appearing for a case at the Syariah Court of Appeal.

However, PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan said other opposition parties must first cut ties with DAP if it wants to negotiate with PAS.

PAS Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz also said that PAS will not allow itself to be a stepping stone for others to capture Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president Muhyiddin Yassin said he was prepared to press on with efforts to unite the opposition and would prefer to try and fail rather than fail to try.

Swiss waiting on M'sia over SRC case

Switzerland's Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) said it had resubmitted its request for mutual legal assistance through diplomatic channel despite Malaysia's Attorney-General Chambers (AGC) stating that it had yet to receive any such request.

Meanwhile, Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua said Najib can no longer remain silent over SRC International's unaccounted billions as the Swiss move in on the case.

Energy company SRC, a former subsidiary of 1MDB, is fully owned by the Finance Ministry, which is headed by Najib.
