Penang footballer Mohd Faiz Subri has made into the top 3 for Fifa's Puskas award.

The Puskas award honours the best goals of the year.

Mohd Faiz, 29, was through to the top 3 after an initial round of voting.

In the initial round of voting, netizens were presented with shortlist of the 10 best goals around the world and they were asked to pick a favourite.

The top 3 will now undergo another round of voting.

The other two finalists are Brazil's Marlone and Venezuela's Daniuska Rodriguez.

Mohd Faiz caught international attention after scoring a goal against Pahang FC in the Malaysia Super League in February.

His apparent physics-defying 'knuckle ball' quickly went viral on the Internet and even earned the attention of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The final vote will close on Jan 9 next year.
