Porsche poser; PAS warns of consequences; K’tan floods worsen

KINI ROUNDUP Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Annuar zips lips on prince’s Porsche poser

Umno information chief Annuar Musa refused to respond to Johor crown prince Tunku Ismail Ibrahim’s insinuation that he used funds meant for Kelantan to purchase a Porsche Panamera car for himself.

Tunku Ismail said this after Annuar said Johor Darul Ta’zim football club (JDT), owned by the prince, is ruining the football scene by overpaying players.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman urged Annuar, who is former president of the financially ailing Kelantan Football Association, to apologise for offending the prince and for the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to probe the Porsche purchase.

PAS warns of consequences if not included in seat nego

PAS vice-president Iskandar Samad warned of consequences for all, if PAS is not given a seat at the opposition parties’ seat negotiation table.

He said PAS is willing to respect an agreement to ensure straight fights against BN, but will not stand down if splinter party Amanah also contests in seats PAS is contesting.

Kelantan floods worsen

Rantau Panjang town is crippled after Sungai Golok overflows, as more victims stream into flood evacuation centres in Kelantan and Terengganu.

The government, however, assures that there is enough food supply in the states for one month and that it is better prepared to face major disasters, learning its lesson from the harrowing 2014 Christmas eve east coast floods.

Other Kinibites

City folk interviewed by Malaysiakini are split on whether they support McDonald’s decision to ban birthday cakes without halal certification on its premises, with some fearing discriminiation.

The Penang government offered Putrajaya a RM50 million loan to fund Chinese schools, after the Education Ministry said the budget funds are frozen due to shortage of cash.

Looking ahead

PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli will hold his next press conference on MRT costing and the Federal Land Development Agency (Felda).

It is the first day of school of 2017 for most primary and secondary school children.
