New venue for Dr M-Nazri debate; Azmin jabs Nik Abduh; Pandikar rapped

KINI ROUNDUP Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

New venue for Dr M-Nazri debate

Federal minister Mohd Nazri Abdul Aziz has proposed for the much-anticipated debate between ex-premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad and himself to be held at organiser Sinar Harian's office in Shah Alam on April 7 instead.

This was after the police rejected the notice for the debate which is planned for March 25 at the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Kuala Kangsar.

Nazri said his friendly debate with Mahathir, whom he said is his “sifu” (master) who taught him everything he knows, was an attempt to encourage a culture of healthy dialogue in the country.

Azmin jabs Nik Abduh

In what can be seen as a swipe at PAS Youth chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali has posted a sarcastic tweet aimed at a mysterious "tok lebai" (person in skull cap) who aspires to take over the reigns of Selangor and yet suffered a humiliating defeat in his own backyard.

While Azmin did not name anyone, his tweet came soon after Nik Mohamad Abduh, who lost badly in the recent Pengkalan Chepa PAS divisional polls, told the media that while PAS had agreed to PKR leading the state government last time, it now aims to rule Selangor.

NUJ raps Pandikar

The National Union of Journalists (NUJ) president Mohd Taufek Razak has condemned Parliament’s move to ban journalists along its hallway, describing it as a crackdown on journalists trying to gain access to information.

This was after Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia made a ruling banning media members from stationing themselves at the hallway to accost parliamentarians, citing the security of lawmakers from both sides of the political divide, himself included.
