DAP's Ipoh Barat MP M Kulasegaran and PKR Sabah chief Christina Liew have been appointed as Pakatan Harapan vice-presidents.

The decision, said Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was so that the coalition would be more representative of Indians and Sabahans.

"Kulasegaran, who serves as Harapan treasurer will vacate the position and will be replaced by Husam Musa," said Mahathir in a press conference after chairing the Harapan presidential council meeting at Amanah headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.

"This is a slight amendment made by the presidential council so that (Harapan) would be representative of all races," he added.

Apart from the two newly-appointed vice-presidents, other Harapan vice-presidents are PKR deputy president Azmin Ali, Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir, Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jien and Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub.

Prominent lawyer and human rights advocate Ambiga Sreenevasan had previously questioned the lack of Indian representation in the Harapan line-up.

According to her, placing Kulasegaran as treasurer is "tokenism".
