Preacher Wan Ji Wan Husin, who is attached to the Penang Chief Minister's Office, has been arrested after delivering a sermon in Seberang Perai, Penang today.

According to Bernama, Wan Ji is being held following a police report alledging that Wan Ji had insulted the sultans.

Penang police chief Chuah Ghee Lye said that Wan Ji is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1954.

The preacher is reported to have been taken to Kuala Lumpur for investigations.

PKR Youth is organising a solidarity for him outside the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.

Wan Ji, who is the PKR Youth religious bureau chief, was appointed as Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng's information officer on Sept 28.

According to PKR member Mohd Edy Jab, who witnessed the arrest, said the arresting party claimed that the preacher was arrested under the Sedition Act, but did not provide details.

"Some of the police personnel said they were from Kuala Lumpur. It seems that he would be brought to Bukit Aman," said Mohd Edy when contacted.
