PAS gloats at anti-kleptocracy rally turnout

PAS Ulama chief Mahfodz Mohamad said the turnout at Pakatan Harapan's anti-kleptocracy rally last night could not match the party's own Fastaqim 2.0 rally that took place last month.

The low turnout at the anti-kleptocracy rally, said Mahfodz, was expected.

"I had expected it because they have been down (even before the rally) and said they weren't intending to compete with our Fastaqim, which attracted 250,000 people, he told journalists after an Islamic lecture in Gombak today.

Amanah president Mohamad Sabu had previously said the anti-kleptocracy rally was not aimed at competing with the Fastaqim 2.0 rally, which was part of PAS' build-up to the 14th general election.

PAS claimed its Fastaqim rally saw a turnout of 250,000 people while Harapan claimed its rally last night saw a turnout of 25,000 people, falling short of the coalition's100,000 target.

Malaysiakini estimated that these rallies by PAS attracted 50,000 people and by Harapan, 8,000 people respectively...
