MACC finalising ‘corruption ranking’ for ministries

MACC said that it is finalising its list of ministries based on levels of corruption and abuse of power, prior to announcing it by the end of November.

Deputy chief commissioner of prevention Shamsun Baharin Mohd Jamil said that at the moment, the ranking list was waiting to be submitted to chief commissioner Dzulkifli Ahmad.

“The list has been completed by a committee of experts involved, but has yet to be submitted to the chief commissioner,” he said in his speech at the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) by the Federal Territories Ministry employees in Putrajaya today.

According to previous media reports, the ranking list to be announced by the MACC comprises the 10 most problematic ministries, and five cleanest in terms of corruption and abuse of power.

Shamsun Baharin said that the Federal Territories Ministry was the 18th ministry to sign the IBR, and the MACC hoped that all 25 ministries and Selangor state government would sign the pledge by the end of this year.

“All state governments have signed the IBR pledge except Selangor,” he said.

A total of 320 KWP employees, led by its secretary-general Adnan Md Ikhsan, signed the pledge today.

Also present was Deputy Federal Territories Minister Loga Bala Mohan.
