KINI ROUNDUP | Here are the key headlines you may have missed yesterday, in brief.

Foes join 'Save Jerusalem' rally

Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak led thousands in a rally to denounce US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

In a rare show of unity, representatives of several major opposition parties participated in the rally, with Pakatan Harapan chairperson and chief Najib critic Dr Mahathir Mohamad making a surprise appearance.

In contrast, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, who in recent years appear to enjoy increasingly cosy ties with Najib, was not at the rally but was instead represented by his son.

Najib told the protestors that although Trump was his good friend, Islam comes first.

However, Mahathir said premier's words will only have effect if Najib rescinded his pledge that Malaysia and the US share the same enemies.

Voters sue over troops

Six voters from Segamat sued the Election Commission over the presence of army personnel and their spouses who were registered in the electoral rolls with an address belonging to a new military base that is not even operational.

Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein’s aide said there was nothing political about the relocation of troops to the constituency, although he did not explain why this was done despite the fact that the new base has yet to be inhabited.

Mahathir’s track record in leading BN to landslide victories invalidated Umno information chief Annuar Musa’s claims that the former premier never enjoyed Malay support, said Bersatu strategist Rais Hussin.
