Harapan hints at PM consensus

Pakatan Harapan leaders indicated that they had reached a consensus on the coalition’s prime ministerial candidate, with further details to be revealed at its convention today.

PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail revealed that the party's de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim will be freed from prison on June 11.

Amanah Wanita chief Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud, in an emotional appeal, urged Harapan leaders to close ranks ahead of the 14th general election.

Harapan Wanita leaders also pledged to increase the age of marriage to 18 if the coalition captures federal power.

MCA and Gerakan unite in show of force

In a joint rally between MCA and Gerakan, the latter’s president took aim at Harapan, accusing the coalition of bickering and engaging in "family drama".

Mah added that Gerakan had many chief minister candidates available should BN recapture Penang, but stressed that the party must first win the state.

Despite the joint gathering, MCA president Liow Tiong Lai said there were no plans for a MCA-Gerakan merger.

PAS wants Shah Alam back

Selangor PAS election director Roslan Mohd Shahir said his party wants the Shah Alam parliamentary seat back, regardless of whether PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali chooses to contest in the constituency.

The MACC secured a remand against Parti Warisan Sabah vice-president Peter Anthony to assist in an investigation into potential graft in a land deal.

MACC said it was ready to join the police in an investigation into a dubious land transaction involving Felda if there were elements of corruption or abuse of power.

Singapore announced that it will remove toll charges for all vehicles entering the republic via the Woodland checkpoint effective Feb 1, reciprocating Putrajaya’s abolishment of the toll on the Johor side along the Eastern Dispersal Link.

The Home Ministry revealed that 19 terror plots had been foiled in Malaysia between 2013 and 2017.
