DAP's Loke promises to feast on MCA's 'Musang King'

Seremban MP Anthony Loke has promised to defend his seat, even if he faces the prospect of a "strong" challenger - MCA Youth chief Chong Sin Woon - who has been dubbed as "Musang King" by his own party.

'Musang King' is the colloquial name for one of most prized varieties of durian and also the nickname that MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong christened for Chong.

According to Loke, he is looking forward to "sink my teeth" on the 'Musang King', although this prospect has rattled some of his supporters in Seremban.

"Many are concerned about this. Someone asked me today if I am confident (in retaining the seat) because a 'king' wants to fight me. What king? 'Musang King'.

"As far as I am concerned, 'Musang King' is to be eaten! Right? So I will definitely remain in Seremban during the next election to eat 'Musang King'!" he told a Pakatan Harapan ceramah in Malacca last night.

However, Loke cautioned that victory would depend on whether Harapan component parties could work together, particularly in convincing Malay voters.

"In order to eat the 'Musang King'... we must work with component parties... Let us work together to topple this corrupted regime," he said.

The impending clash between Chong and Loke is one of the few confirmed high profile contests for the forthcoming 14th general election.

In the last general election, Loke retained the seat with only 52 percent of the votes.
