Remand extended for man who surrendered with murdered lover’s body

The Magistrate's court in Petaling Jaya today extended the remand for another seven days from today on the man who showed up at Damansara Police Station with a body, allegedly that of his girlfriend.

The order on the 37-year-old suspect was issued by Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court assistant registrar, Hairul Azhar Mohd Ishak.

The man had earlier been remanded for six days to facilitate an investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder, which provides for the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

On Feb 5, the media reported that a man brought his lover’s body to the Damansara Police Station in a car, before surrendering. The man claimed he murdered his girlfriend at the parking lot of a shopping mall in Kota Damansara.

Meanwhile, seven men have been remanded for four days in connection with the murder of two brothers at a birthday celebration early yesterday.

In the incident around 2.30am, the victims aged 36 and 44 were believed to have been among more than 20 guests who allegedly gathered after the celebration held under a makeshift camp, to partake in more merrymaking involving alcohol.
