Selangor Menteri Besar Mohd Azmin Ali has dismissed complaints from Selangor PAS assemblypersons that they had not received state funding for two months.

Asked today to comment on the PAS press conference yesterday where the complaint was made, Azmin told reporters, “Anyone could hold a press conference.

“Otherwise you’d have no news to write.”

He was speaking to reporters after attending the Election Commission’s local inquiry in Shah Alam this afternoon.

He did not address the substantive issue of whether the state had stopped paying the 13 elected representatives from PAS, and why.

Yesterday, Selangor PAS commissioner Sallehin Mukhyi (photo) said PAS’ assemblypersons had not been paid their allocations for two months, whereas Pakatan Harapan assemblypersons were not affected.

The alleged freeze started this year, as the PAS representatives had no issues filing their claims up to December last year.

As a result, nine of the 13 assemblypersons have collectively spent RM693,000 out of their own funds over the past two months for various programs for their constituents.

Sallehin said the 13 elected representatives collectively represent about 500,000 Selangorians, and the lack of funding is a denial of their rights.
