Bukit Bendera MP Zairil Khir Johari has confirmed that he is engaged to DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy) central committee member Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud.

The engagement ceremony was held in a hotel in Ipoh, Perak and was attended by several Pakatan Harapan leaders.

“They say when one door closes, another one opens. And so it has been since my marriage was dissolved last year. Such is life, and we keep moving forward.

“I am truly happy to have found in Dyana someone whom I know will make a compatible and supportive partner in life.

“More importantly, Dyana is loved dearly by all in my family, especially my two children,” Zairil said in a Facebook posting today.

Zairil, 35, who is the son of former minister Khir Johari, chose to join DAP as his political party.

Dyana, meanwhile, was introduced in 2014 as a DAP candidate for the Teluk Intan by-election that year.

In the 2013 general election, Zairil won the Bukit Bendera seat against BN candidate Teh Leong Meng with a majority of 32,778 votes.

Previously, several sets of photographs were circulated on social media which alleged that the two of them were having an affair. 

Zairil had repeatedly denied the allegations.
