Yoursay: Guan Eng should refrain from sinking to BN’s level

YOURSAY | ‘Both camps have demeaned voters by their childish photograph wars…’

Guan Eng reveals photos of suspect's wife with BN leaders

VGV: Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng should put a stop to this nonsense and concentrate on winning GE14.

You shouldn’t be involved in sharing these images. What if they turn out to be fake?

Please remember that the MACC is still investigating the issue. Put a permanent stop to all the backbiting.

Tekad: Our political leaders and their supporters from both camps have demeaned the voters by their childish photograph wars instead of looking after the rakyat. This is quite sickening.

The Observer: There is a faulty logic in Lim. Unlike the husband, the wife isn’t the one being investigated by MACC for allegedly receiving RM19 million from the Penang tunnel special purpose vehicle.

The wife wasn’t the one remanded for 11 days. She is reportedly working as a radio deejay. Who is to say interviewing these BN leaders was not part of her job?

Lim, on the other hand, said nothing about knowing the suspect, despite being in the individual’s house, and in the back seat of the car with him.

Abasir: And going by Umno’s logic, where all it takes is a photograph with a suspect personality, then are the famous family in the photo with an alleged 1MDB-linked fugitive and a shady prince from the House of Saud guilty as charged?

Anonymous_b3cdcd05: Where to begin with Eric See-To’s logic. Many would have taken photos with Lim as he is the Penang chief minister. Many do with other leaders that hold position.

See-To’s own boss likes to be photographed with world leaders. Does that mean that they are all in collusion in the kleptocracy? This is the pathetic line of argument.

It is disgraceful that a strategic communications director of a ruling regime is so bankrupt of causes and strategies he would expend time to engage in making a case for his masters on the basis of who is seen with whom in a photograph.

This also betrays the shallowness of BN gutter politics for survival and its slide to political wilderness.

This is a regime that is unable to defend itself from global condemnation as a corrupt and abusive outfit that allegedly steals from its own citizens, but reduced to bullying its opponents at home without an ounce of evidence other than a photograph.

While this was started by BN, Lim should refrain from sinking to their level. And for See-To’s information, the woman in the photograph isn’t exactly free of allegations herself.

51 Kebabs: This is getting stupid. I’m no political genius, but Lim can end the Penang tunnel shenanigans with two simple moves – keep quiet and fire Consortium Zenith Sdn Bhd.

Acknowledge that Zenith erred by allegedly paying monies to ostensibly kill off the MACC probe, and it’s done. BN leaders would have nothing else to say.

But Lim is proving to be as moronic as his father is canny. The reason why he keeps being picked on by all manner of BN leaders – either ranking high enough to “debate” him, or those not worthy of his time – is not because he is popular.

It is because it is easy to get a reaction out of him. And also because it looks like Lim is never far away from scandal.

What will cost Pakatan Harapan in the 14th general election is not so much voters being shifted around the map of Malaysia willy-nilly. It is this relativist admission that “I am dirty, I will engage in gutter politics, but BN is worse.”

When Lim has the opportunity of going high, he keeps going low. Until the day Harapan leaders like Lim realise that having the moral high ground will ensure a high voter turnout to negate some of the gerrymandering, instead of just winning pyrrhic battles that will be forgotten in a month or two, then they will remain as the also-rans.

Pro-BN groups lodge report over CM playing ABCD-GST song to kids

Gaji Buta: Indeed, Lim teaching children to sing the “ABCD-GST” song is in bad taste. It is absolutely beyond the pale.

Tpn: But what about BN going to schools and talking politics? How is this different from the primary school in Putrajaya covered in Umno flags during Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor’s visit?

Bornean: So waving Umno flags, holding an “Umno and independence” competition, and singing the Umno theme at a school is okay? At least now Umno has a taste of its own medicine.

Anonymous 568201438363345: It looks like hardcore DAP supporters are losing the ability to differentiate right and wrong.

Not Smart: If the Penang Front Party (PFP) sees the lyrical content of the “ABCD-GST” song as being sarcastic and insulting to the BN-led government, they should know by now that the GST itself is a bigger insult to the rakyat.

Our country has so much natural resources and human capital, and yet we cannot manage our economy prudently and wisely but choose the easier way out by shafting GST down everyone’s throat and making everyone’s lives miserable with a bleak future.

We have no political willpower to address and arrest the mismanagement, corruption, leakages, extravagant spending at higher levels, but find it so easy to burden the helpless rakyat.

V George My: In this case, DAP hit where it hurts the most - free tuition centres in low-cost flat areas for the children of occupants to break free the clutches of the evil design of extremists.
