Jamal threatens to ‘kick’ Kit Siang, calls protesters ‘yellow-shirted dogs’

Tholu: Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos is a coward. Would he dare to go solo and carry out his threats such as kicking Gelang Patah MP Lim Kit Siang?

What about his other threat of holding a counter rally of 10,000 red shirt gangsters if Bersih supporters gather at Parliament to protest EC’s redelineation exercise.

His antics on this matter is reminiscent of Perkasa’s Ibrahim Ali’s threat to organise a counter rally of 15,000 members against Bersih 2.0 rally. Eventually there were only a few members strolling leisurely at Tasik Titiwangsa, far away from the venue of the Bersih rally.

Jamal did the same thing – cancelled his proposed counter rally against Bersih’s rally. However, I believe he did send an individual on a reconnaissance mission to the rally.

Jamal, your words and deeds only point to one thing – you are a man full of anger and hatred. Go see a shrink.

Ipohcrite: Jamal should do well to remember the maxim "do unto others what you would have others do unto yourself."

Thuggish behaviour from a Umno leader like Jamal only cements the belief that the party practises political thuggery. But then again, this sort of behaviour apparently endears him to the Umno bigwigs and inflates his political ambitions.

Turvy: Rather than berate and scold this no-good slob, we should pay someone to make an effigy of him, a statue that we can plant near the Tugu or maybe even to replace the Tugu.

Then we can show the hordes of visitors who come to gawk at our other symbol of democracy, the Parliament, and tell them:

“Here stands in all this land's glory, the product of 60 years of its independence, of good education - the best in the world, of racial harmony like the world has never known, of a freedom that allows vile offensive men to roam freely.”

Not Convinced: DPM Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and police chief Mohamad Fuzi Harun have both warned of those who are bent on creating chaos during the upcoming general election.

Inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said the police had identified about 1,100 individuals and organisations.

They don’t need to look far. There is one right under their noses.

Kim Quek: The Umno leadership has always treated civil servants as its captive electorate in every election, to be kept that way with the “carrot and stick” treatment.

While election goodies are handed out (the quantum of which depends on the severity of the electoral challenge), subtle warnings are issued of serious consequences if they do not vote for BN, for which they are misled into believing that their votes are not secret.

And so, many have voted for BN out of fear, and some, out of misguided gratitude for the goodies received. Concurrently, they are being brainwashed into believing that they owe their loyalty to their employer, which has been misrepresented as being the ruling coalition.

As a result, many do not have a clear understanding that the government and the ruling political party are not one and the same thing, that while the former is permanent and belongs to the people, the latter comes and goes, depending on what the people decide in an election.

Our 1.6 million civil servants are positioned to play a pivotal role in the coming election, and most of them are well-informed of the merits and shortcomings of both contenders.

It is sincerely hoped that they would overcome their unfounded fear and misguided gratitude, and vote purely according to their conscience and moral compass to choose what is best for the country.

The interests of civil servants, and for that matter, all Malaysians, are best served by an honest and capable government, and not by a corrupt, immoral and incompetent government dishing out ad hoc benefits only at election time.

The latter is guaranteed to bring disaster to the country eventually.

Anonymous 568201438363345: Lembah Pantai MP Nurul Izzah Anwar could be our future prime minister. She is getting more mature and smarter by the day. The problem with her comments is, how are you to deliver this message to the people?

How are you going to convince them? Don't forget what our PM has done is tangible, while what you are offering is not.

Quigonbond: Trying to get someone to vote for BN is like a romantic courtship. When one keeps showering the other with gifts, and that too belonging to someone else (ergo taxpayers), the other party to the courtship quickly loses interest because giving in this context is viewed as desperate, supplicant behaviour, not to be cherished because the giver is not respected to begin with.

And to imagine using ceaseless amounts of cash/capital commitment everywhere he goes, as if our nation's finances stem from a magical pool of infinite resources. Promises made can be easily broken.

It seems like the same modus operandi by rich brats who have never endured hardship to earn money the hard way, showering gifts and partying with the likes of Paris Hilton and Miranda Kerr.

Instead, consider Harapan - its manifesto is principled, spending is carefully curated, and people don't get free gifts. This is the kind of courtship that people desire - we're in this together, for better or worse.

Bob The Builder: Civil servants should wake up now. A short-term gain only means long-term suffering for what they are going to get if they vote for their corrupt and heavily tainted boss.

Anonymous_c9b96c38: Efficiency will place the civil servants in a position to get better pay scales. They should promote a capable officer when a senior retires and reshuffle the staff with increased salary to fill the promoted officer's vacancy instead of appointing new staff. That's what the private sector has been doing these past few years.

But what civil servants want to hear is that you don’t take away the goodies given to them after winning the election. If you want to win, you have no choice. No amount of uplifting promises is stronger than cold hard cash in hand for them.

This should make Harapan aggressively go after those crooks and recover all stolen assets without any exception and bargaining.

Anonymous: Reducing civil servant numbers doesn't mean firing them, maybe they have all got it wrong.

I remember once seeing a team of four persons trimming a tree from the Public Works Department (JKR) consisting of a driver, a cutter, a labourer picking up and loading the cut branches into the lorry, and a supervisor.

I trimmed a tree in front of my house with only two persons - do you see the difference here?
