GE14 | Pakatan Harapan will file their application for leave to cite Registrar of Societies (ROS) director-general Surayati Ibrahim (above) for contempt in the High Court in Kuala Lumpur by this afternoon.

Harapan lawyers Michelle Ng and Mohd Haniff Khatri Abdulla said they would also file a certificate of urgency for the contempt application to be heard quickly.

"This application (for contempt) will be heard first, rather than the substantive of merits of Harapan’s challenge against ROS in not allowing the registration of the coalition.

"We hope to get the hearing dates before the election," Ng told reporters after case management today.

Polling day has been fixed for May 9 while nomination day is on April 28.

Meanwhile, Ng said Justice Azizah Nawawi has fixed May 15 as case management for the main application by Harapan.

Senior federal counsel Suzana Atan appeared for the Attorney-General's Chambers.

It was previously reported that Harapan wants to cite Surayati for contempt for holding a press conference on Thursday, announcing the temporary dissolution of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), a component party of Harapan.

The press conference was held before the hearing of merits of Harapan's challenge to the judicial review before Justice Azizah that same afternoon.

Justice Azizah had granted leave for the applicants in the suit to compel the ROS to register the coalition; comprising PKR, Bersatu, DAP and Parti Amanah Nasional; as a formal coalition ahead of the 14th general election.
