Former minister Zaid Ibrahim continues to lament his fate in DAP, hinting once again that he has been sidelined with regard to the general election.

Commenting on DAP's decision to drop its eight-term MP for Kepong Tan Seng Giaw, he said the veteran's departure from politics is a “big miss”.

“I like him. We are both from Bachok, Kelantan, both never abrasive or loud in Parliament,” added the former Umno lawmaker on Twitter.

Zaid, who joined DAP last year, also highlighted that he was in a similar position.

“He (Tan) was dumped after 30 years, I was done by just after 12 months. It must have hurt him a lot more,” he said.

On Monday, DAP announced that its incumbent MP for Segambut Lim Lip Eng would be fielded in Kepong whereas incumbent Subang Jaya assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh would be moved to Segambut.

Following this, Tan said he accepted the party's decision and vowed not to contest as an independent or join other parties.

In the 2013 general election, Tan retained the Kepong seat with a whopping majority of 40,307 votes, beating two challengers, Chandrakumanan Arumugam of MyPPP and independent Yee Poh Ping.

He first contested in Kepong in 1978 under a Pekemas ticket but lost. He made a comeback in 1982 polls under DAP, and has won the seat in every election since then.

Meanwhile, Zaid, in a previous posting, had complained about not being offered a seat to contest.

The former minister had also revealed how an invitation to speak at a PKR ceramah was revoked because some felt he would not appeal to the Malay audience.
