GE14 | AirAsia will not be able to provide free flights for the 14th general election, but the airline is doing its best to keep prices down.

AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes said this when sharing a photograph of the airlines' domestic revenue team in Malaysia on Facebook. 

"The domestic revenue team. Making sure they keep fares down for the election.

"Can't give free but we will do our best. Also trying to put extra flights," he said in the Facebook post.

Yesterday, incumbent Pulai MP Nur Jazlan Mohamad sarcastically suggested that AirAsia offer free flights outright, after the airline announced that it would provide a fee waiver for booking changes to domestic flight during the election period. 

Nur Jazlan had previously accused another airline, Cathay Pacific, of wanting regime change when it announced a similar move. Several airlines have since followed suit. 

The Election Commission yesterday announced that polling day will take place on May 9.

Malaysians have started to arrange transportation back to their hometowns to vote for GE14.

The prices of tickets for various modes of transportation during the general election period have shot up due to strong demand.
