GE14 | Federal Territories PAS is set to field nine candidates in the Federal Terriroties for the 14th general election, with seven in Kuala Lumpur, and one each in Putrajaya and Labuan.

According to party organ HarakahDaily, PAS Federal Territories chief Mohamad Noor Mohamad announced last night that the Kuala Lumpur seats it will run in are Bandar Tun Razak, Wangsa Maju, Setiawangsa, Titiwangsa, Lembah Pantai, Segambut and Batu.

He also said that the final list of all nine candidates will be announced on April 19.

"These nine candidates comprise new and old faces, and also balanced in terms of their professional and religious backgrounds," he told HarakahDaily at the launch of Federal Territories PAS manifesto last night.

According to Mohamad Noor, the manifesto has 25 offers divided into seven clusters, namely housing, women, economy, social and transportation infrastructure.

This time around, candidates from Federal Territories PAS are likely to be caught in three-cornered fights with BN and Pakatan Harapan candidates.

The four KL seats which it did not state it would be running in – Kepong, Cheras, Bukit Bintang and Seputeh – are currently held by DAP.

In particular, the Titiwangsa parliamentary seat currently held by caretaker second finance minister Johari Abdul Ghani is expected to see a fierce three-way battle.

In the 2013, Johari won the seat with a narrow 866-vote majority against PAS' Ahmad Zamri Asahan Khuzaimi.

Five years prior, PAS won the seat through the late Dr Lo' Lo' Mohd Ghazali, defeating BN’s Aziz Jamaluddin Mohd Tahir.

As part of the former Pakatan Rakyat federal opposition pact, Federal Territories PAS had in GE13 fielded two candidates in Titiwangsa and Putrajaya, but lost both to BN.

Ahead of the April 28 nominations day, Harapan is expected to announce its candidate for Titiwangsa and Federal Territories seats in a function in Putrajaya tonight.
