GE14 | Caretaker communication and multimedia minister Salleh Said Keruak has claimed that Pakatan Harapan is made up of strange bedfellows.

“When at one time they were bent on destroying one another, even political expediency is no excuse for them to work together.

“Worse still is when they offer lame excuses to explain and justify their pact,” Salleh added in a blog posting this morning.

The Umno treasurer-general was referring to the pact between jailed former opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, his wife and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said at one time, Anwar, Wan Azizah and Lim had opposed Mahathir on the excuse to save Malaysia.

“Now they unite with Mahathir on that same excuse of saving Malaysia,” he added.

Turning the clock back to 1993, Salleh recalled how Lim condemned Anwar and demanded his resignation.

He pointed out that the DAP leader even accused the former deputy prime minister of lying to Parliament.

“Then he worked with Anwar. Then Lim said if the opposition comes to power they will make Mahathir pay for his crimes.

“And now he works with Mahathir,” he added.

According to Salleh, this is clear evidence that Harapan is nothing more than a marriage of convenience among parties with their own agendas.

“This is not about the interest of the nation but about the pursuit of political power.

“The opposition pact will not last and if they come to power the nation will suffer. This is the reality of the opposition pact,” he added.
