GE14 | Rosmah Mansor has accused PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli of attempting to trap her husband, caretaker prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, and her over the diamond ring issue.

Referring to the incumbent Pandan lawmaker’s 2014 allegation that Najib had plundered the country’s resources to fund her diamond ring purchases, Rosmah claimed that Rafizi only told “half the story and half-truths”.

Speaking to BN women members in Lembah Pantai this afternoon, Rosmah maintained that she had only viewed the ring but did not purchase it.

“You want to know about the ring? They (critics) said I have a ring but they sometimes say it's USD8 million, USD16 million, USD24 million and even USD86 million.

“I said you better decide how much my ring is. They talk about things they don’t know.

“(When they brought in the ring) it was only meant for viewing, not for purchasing. So I looked at it and said it was very nice. But I said 'you better send it back',” she added.

US-based jeweller Jacob & Co previously backed-up Rosmah claim and said the ring in question had been shipped to Malaysia for “inspection purposes only” before it was taken back to the US.

Najib had sued Rafizi for defamation over this allegation. The case is ongoing.

Today, Rosmah said she was surprised as to how Rafizi could obtain the Customs Department form when the ring was brought in, but not the form when it was taken out.

“This is something that he used to try and trap Najib and me... He wants to manipulate and confuse what people think.

“So he only tells half the story….He only tells half the truth because he wants the rakyat to hate Najib and me,” she added.

Reiterating that she did not buy the ring, Rosmah said: “The ring is not in my possession, it really isn't.”
