Selangor PKR Youth secretary Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman said such news was part of an effort “mar the party’s image” and denied the existence of any internal rift.
“The truth is, the unity within PKR is strong. Differences of opinion when deciding the best election candidates is something normal and healthy.
“The rumour that Azmin and Rafizi’s camps are at odds is a hilarious and desperate strategic media attack played by BN mouthpieces,” Syed Badli said in a statement today.
“It is generally known that the mainstream media is controlled by BN, those who are trying to portray PKR as being in a mess are lying and have evil intentions.
“The truth is Rafizi and Azmin are working together in a united way to defend the reform agenda to bring Malaysia in a better direction,” he added.
Earlier today, PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail similarly denied the existence of warring factions within the party, and blamed BN for creating such perceptions.
Recent statements have alluded to fissures within PKR over its list of candidates for Selangor, which Wan Azizah announced last night.
Before announcing the list, however, she urged the party to close ranks, and described herself as a mother to many children with differing whims.
Previously, there had been rumours that PKR vice-president Tian Chua would quit, though the incumbent Batu MP has since reiterated his commitment to PKR.
In doing so, however, Tian Chua had advised Anwar and Wan Azizah not to give in to factional interest in deciding the candidates' list.
Incumbent Rawang assemblyperson Gan Pei Nei had also claimed that someone within PKR had sent a poison-pen letter to the party’s top leadership, accusing her of abusing her constituency allocations.
“Perhaps the letter was by those who want to contest in Rawang, and they backstabbed me,” Gan had said.
Though holding the seat for two terms, Gan was not named to defend it.
The seat will be contested by PKR Youth deputy strategy director Chua Wei Kiat instead.
What's with journalists, editors and reporters? In your own families or offices you guys don't have differences and arguments? Are you people for real? Differences of opinions, points of view, disagreements are not confined to political parties and politicians. Voters have differences amongst themselves too. Kalau tidak, what's the elections for? When as a voter, I am well aware that I am not voting for a saint inasmuch as I the voter is no saint either. Please lah, let's quit the hypocrisy, okay? We can't and won't vote a sinless candidate or party. As long as we vote for the lesser sinner, and the less sinful party coalition, that's all we look for and all we can do.
Gan Pei Pei, don't be a sore loser like Dr Boo of DAP and Puad of UMNO. Both disputed why they were not chosen just like what you did. After all, there is life after PKR. If both DAP & Bersatu hold the majority seats, a new MB should be chosen to avoid more infighting in Selangor in the future.
After the GE 14 once PH has won, amendment to holding of power by ruling party should be restricted to two term maximum. Prime Minister, Chief Minister post and all other important post. Then we will not see anyone cocking around.
