Day 3: BN Muar candidate plays up 'Chinese unity'

Slowly Slowly Catch The Monkeys: BN Muar candidate Razali Ibrahim, the Chinese community down south are not that naive to be deceived by your cheap shot.

You must be wetting your pants to see the Chinese transformation - that is, to stand up to BN's kleptocracy.

Beman: DAP is causing disunity among Chinese Malaysians? I am inclined to believe that the Chinese are mainly united against MCA, a party that has become increasingly irrelevant to them.

Sleepy: They are playing the same outdated 'divide and rule' racial song against DAP, which is maybe, finally a credible multiracial alternative to the single-race MCA.

Sans Prejudice: Here’s a typical Umno fat cat who is an ignoramus and has the least inclination to understand the Chinese psyche.

The loss of support for MCA today is MCA's own doing. After party president Tan Siew Sin's exit, MCA had been bullied and relegated to the status of junior component party in BN.

The Chinese are generally both pragmatic and self-reliant.

In normal business dealings, political affinity or affiliations have no distinctive advantage or privilege in the choice of one's business client. It is all based on trust and personal integrity. In their daily lives, political affiliation or preference is like a screensaver, it exists only in the background.

To say that the Chinese community has been fragmented because of DAP “waging war against MCA” is pure bunkum.

Ultimately: Yes, please do not insult the Chinese. We don't have such a stupid thing as “Chinese unity”, unlike Umno's false mantra.

One thing is clear though, the Chinese are indeed “united” in their hatred for MCA, which has been exposed as self-serving, greedy and corrupt politicians who don't give a toss about the Chinese, or any unity except their united single goal to get on the gravy train.

Anonymous: Umno has eroded the dignity of MIC, MCA and Gerakan over the past 45 years, until their leadership are only puppets endorsing the racist policies of Umno.

The problem here is, Umno still thinks the Malaysian rakyat are stupid. We have already seen through the lame duck parties of MIC, MCA, Gerakan, and MyPPP. Enough of them.

Kheng: You only need to read the statement from Cheras Wanita MCA chairman Heng Sinn Yee, their candidate for Cheras - that she is sacrificing her confinement period for her party in order to run in the election.

Mind you, she is not sacrificing for us Malaysians.

Léon Moch: There's no such thing as a united race anywhere in this world.

In any case, Razali might want to check out the 12,000 comments (and counting) on the Cheras MCA candidate's Facebook to see what Chinese Malaysians think of MCA.

Ash Burn: This is an old song. Malaysians have moved on, so must you. What next, communists armed and ready? CPM leader Chin Peng did not die, but was scooted off to a secret location on MH370?

It is foolishness like this that is an insult to the voters. As they say, give him enough rope and he’ll do the needful.

Non-Malays need no representation in Umno gov’t

Korkor: Whether we have Chinese representation in the government or not makes no difference, as those who are in the BN government are not interested in the aspirations of the Chinese, but instead are interested in enriching themselves and maybe their party.

The single most prominent issue of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) is the most glaring example of this, and as it has been said, BN is still in the last mile towards recognition of the UEC for local university entry, but this last mile is the forever mile with no end to it.

So we are not bothered whether MCA or Gerakan is in the government, as this round, we look to Pakatan Harapan as the new government-to-be in our quest to save Malaysia.

RR: Malaysian political parties can call themselves multiracial, multi-religious, etc, but basically all are very much racial.

Come every general election, there will be assurances of this and that for each race. But over the last 60 years, the stateless Malaysians issue has still not been fully resolved, there is little improvement in the intake of non-Malays in the civil service, such as the teaching, military, nursing, and police sectors.

There is hardly a non-Malay vice-chancellor in public universities. Are the non-Malay professors so stupid that they cannot be a VC?

There are hardly any non-Malay CEO (or even a board member) in the government-linked companies (GLCs). Are these Malay monopolies?

What then is the necessity for non-Malay representation in the government?

Whether BN or Harapan, the new government must change its policies in favour of egalitarianism and meritocracy and look beyond race to eradicate poverty for all so as to bring progress to the nation.

Gaji Buta: Caretaker PM Najib Razak's logic in seeking Chinese support in order to have representation in government is an oxymoron.

The only reason the various races need representation is because of all the racial policies that Umno practices.

If everyone is treated the same, then there would be no need for “racial representation”, only “representation”, full stop. Umno is the root cause of this conundrum.
