GE14 | PAS' Gagasan Sejahtera partner Berjasa has fired fresh salvos against the party, accusing it of treachery.
Berjasa information chief Mohd Junip Huzayin said it felt betrayed after PAS only allocated it five seats for the 14th general election, although it had asked to contest in 17.
Furthermore, Berjasa were only allowed to contest under their own logo in three of the five seats, and under PAS’ logo in the other two.
"We regret this friendship as it now appears there is an ulterior motive," he was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian at a press conference in Kamunting today.
Mohd Junip said PAS previously approach Berjasa on grounds of a common struggle, but had ended up taking most of the seats.
"PAS, through its actions, has lost its right to claim that it is an Islamic party.
"It is clear evidence of betrayal against another group of Muslims," he said.
Berjasa, a PAS splinter party, also brands itself as an Islamic party.
Furthermore, Berjasa said all the seats PAS allocated to Bejasa were virtually impossible to win, as they were Chinese-majority seats.
These, he said, were the parliamentary seats of Ipoh Barat, Ipoh Timur and Batu Gajah.
Last Sunday, Berjasa central committee member Zainal Abidin Abd Rahman claimed his party had quit Gagasan Sejahtera.
However, PAS information chief Nasrudin Hassan denied this.
Berjasa have also defiantly fielded candidates in the parliamentary seat of Cameron Highlands and the state seats of Batu Kurau and Sungai Manik against PAS.
