Umno Baling MP Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim has resigned as Lembaga Tabung Haji chairperson.

According to The Star Online, Azeez submitted his resignation on May 14.

"I was appointed by the minister in the Prime Minister's department, so my resignation must also go back to the minister in charge.

"As far as my position is concerned, I have resigned. It is still sort of unofficial, because there is no minister," he was quoted as saying.

Lembaga Tabung Haji, a fund intended to facilitate Muslims performing the hajj, falls under the minister in the prime Minister's Department in charge of Islamic affairs.

It is unclear under which ministry the fund will be placed in the new Pakatan Harapan government, as Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has indicated his intent to decentralise power.

To date, 13 ministers have been appointed with another 12 appointments expected soon.

Earlier today, the MACC raided properties linked to Azeez in Subang Jaya and Kedah and seized around RM500,000 cash along with some jewellery.
