Former Sabah chief minister Musa Aman and Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Md Yunos are believed to have snuck out of the country, the police have reportedly claimed.

Bernama quoted inspector-general of police Mohamad Fuzi Harun as saying that Musa was believed to have fled abroad using Brunei as a transit point.

His disclosure follows a statement from the Immigration Department saying that it has no record of Musa leaving the country.

“Therefore, we believe that he exited through Brunei to another country and the police are tracing him. There are some who said that he is in Brunei, but there is no specific location,” he was quoted as saying.

According to Fuzi, police have notified Bruneian authorities and asked for assistance to track down Musa if he is there.

Bernama also quoted the IGP as saying that Jamal was believed to have snuck into Indonesia.

“We believe he used a laluan tikus (smugglers' path) to leave the country as the Immigration Department said it has no record showing he left the country."

Fuzi added that police have obtained the cooperation of Indonesian authorities and are working to trace his exact location.

Musa has been uncontactable since May 14. Police are seeking to record his statement over allegations that he had criminally intimidated Sabah governor Juhar Mahiruddin.

Jamal, meanwhile, reportedly disappeared on May 25 after being admitted to the Ampang Puteri Specialist Hospital. Police have since issued an arrest warrant for him.

In a subsequent video apparently filmed in an oil palm plantation, Jamal claimed that he is still in the country.
