Unemployed youth, alleged drug addict, charged with murder

A 21-year-old unemployed youth, Goh Jie Keat, was today charged in a magistrate’s court in Kuala Lumpur with the murdering of his three-year-old niece.
Goh was charged with murdering Serena Yip Pei Yee at No 1046, Jalan Kuang Gunung 4, Taman Kepong in Kuala Lumpur, between 7pm and 8pm on June 18.
No plea was recorded from Goh, who looked emotionless. Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamaruddin fixed Sept 3 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor K Vasugi appeared for the prosecution.
The three-year-old was reported to have been stabbed to death by her own uncle and that she had 30 stab wounds.
Sentul district police chief R Munusamy said the 21-year old suspect was believed to be under the influence of drugs when he committed the murder.
Munusamy said police received a distress call from the hospital about 9.45pm that day on the incident.
