The notice on the vacancy of the Balakong state seat following the death of incumbent Eddie Ng Tien Chee in a road accident early today, is expected to be submitted to the Election Commission (EC) next week.

Selangor State Assembly Speaker Ng Suee Lim confirmed the matter to Bernama through a WhatsApp message today.

“Maybe (the notice on the vacant Balakong seat will be submitted) next week,” he said briefly.

Ng died at about 12.30am after the Nissan X-Trail vehicle he was driving from Kuala Lumpur to Kajang crashed into the rear of a truck at Km11.7 of the Grand Saga Expressway.

In the 14th general election, Ng retained his Balakong seat for the second term after defeating Lim Chin Wah from Barisan Nasional and Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali (PAS) with a 35,538-vote majority.
